Personal statement

Francesca is a Teaching Fellow in Italian and has worked at the University of Strathclyde since 2009. Prior to this, she taught Italian in Ukraine and English in Italy.

A graduate in Conference Interpreting from the Università degli Studi di Trieste, Francesca also has a Master’s degree in Teaching Italian as a Foreign Language (DITALS) from the Università per Stranieri di Siena. In addition, she holds a Postgraduate Certificate in Learning and Teaching in Higher Education from the University of Strathclyde, and is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.

Francesca is currently class coordinator for first-year undergraduate modules in Italian, and teaches Italian language and culture at all levels, including on the MSc in Applied Translation and Interpreting and on the CCEd Italian evening degree programme. Her academic interests include language pedagogy, history of the Italian language, multilingualism, translation and interpreting.

Away from the University, Francesca is the co-host of Coffee Break Italian, an award-winning podcast for learning the language.
